Portugal has recently become the country everyone wants to go to with tourist numbers increasing drastically year on year and there are many reason why this beautiful destination is proving to be popular amongst travellers. This is a country which has Europe's oldest borders, a country home to many landscapes and above all a country with significant cultural heritage

heritage which still  lives within its cities and towns to this day. Lisbon, the capital city of Portugal is best described as a city of fairy tale's, visit the old wooden trams and iron funiculars which still make their way through the city blending what once was with the modern touches that have become. Whilst in Lisbon do not give up on the opportunity to visit the store 'Pasteis de Belem which is said to be home to the best custard tarts (pasteis de nata); no other country does custard tars quite like the Portuguese. Lisbon is also home to Europe's longest bridge fffff

stretching a magnificent 10.7 miles called Vasco da Gama, named after thenamed after the famous Portuguese explorer. Heading north we come to Portugal's second city of Porto, this medieval city merits a visit. It's extraordianry gold leaf churches, the endless list of Port vintage wine vineyards which circulates  the city and the Douro river which splits the city in two will be sure to bring out the camera for an astonishing picturesque moment. Porto is also the former home to J.K Rowling the author of Harry Potter and the famous library in the movies can be found in this city known as 'Livraria Lello'. However, Portugal doesn't end here, if you haven't heard of cities such as Braga, Guimaraes and Sintra you are missing out on the opportunity to witness Portugal prior to its Tourism. Moving away from the mainland Portugal host some of Europes most divine islands such as Madeira and the Acores which is just a short flight away. You won't find many islands like these with its spectacular landscapes greenery.

Life in Portugal

Your money will certainly go further in Portugal in comparison to other European countries. It has been said that Portugal is Europe's second best value for money after Bulgaria. Where ever you are in Portugal you will be sure to have a great time. Each city, town and even village has there own date in the calendar to hold their annual festivities where everything pretty much closes down and everyone gathers for a so-called 'festa'. Attending these local festivals is a great way to 

way to immerse yourself in the Portuguese culture and meet new people.  Activities are endless in Portugal with plenty to do, Portugal is home to spectacular white beaches, fabulous food, exquisite local wine, some of the world's greatest golf courses, extensive water sports and amazing climate which together all plays a part of one's daily life. Ultimately football plays a huge part in the hearts of the Portuguese locals predominantly around their national team as they are pride themselves as patriots backing the nation. Portugal has been known to produce some of the world's best footballers with Eusebio, Luis Figo and most recently Cristiano Ronaldo therefore although you may not be a fan of the game you will be sure to lure up a great atmosphere with the locals and enjoy as a nation comes together celebrating the national sport.
